Psalms 119
Vav

Vav
“…and their faces were not ashamed.”
Psalms 34:5b (34:6b Hebrew)

Introduction

  • In the last lesson we saw the fifth stanza’s 8 verses begin with dalet – showing that we must choose between the way of lying or the Way of Truth. There is only one door, one dalet.

Vav: Vivouni = “Let (it) Come” (Verses 41-48)

  • vav = secure, add, hook, to bind together
  • Picture = tent peg, nail, hook
  • Spelling = vav-vav
  • Value = 6
  • Sound = v, u, o
  • Meaning = G-d’s gives security and binds us to Himself. Every column in a Torah scroll begins with a vav. By the “vav” are the curtains of the tabernacle (Word) held.
  • This stanza shows us the security of G-d’s lovingkindness and Word.

Our Response

  • How does this reveal the character of G-d?
  • Is this something that G-d does for me?
  • Is this something that G-d wants me to do in response to Him?
  • Is this something that G-d wants me to do with Him?
